Hi, Mamatha -
ReplyDeleteYour recipe sounds great! I've cooked red beans, black beans, and butter beans in my slow cooker (using traditional New Orleans ingredients) but I've been looking for some variety. Ran across chana dal at the local international market -- I actually thought it was a variety of split pea, and I like it even better than yellow split peas. Finding lauki seemed a bit of a challenge, but I just read that cucuzzi is a longer variety of bottle gourd, and that's available here.
Have you ever doubled the quantity? (I have a huge crockpot, and sometimes cook for a crowd at the holidays.)
Thanks so much for the recipe. Hope you're having a great 4th of July weekend. :-)

Thanks Kathy for your kind words.
ReplyDeleteYes , I have doubled the quantity, But I am not a stickler for measurements, Except for Red Chilli powder/Water, All the other ingrediets can be safely doubled. Increase Red chilli powder and water by half. I did have a good 4th July weekend, did not look at fireworks though. Hope you had a good one too.
I tried this and it turned out great-- thanks!
